Look Up to the ceiling in the room in which you are sitting and you will see a light fitting. Know that if it were not for Thomas Edison’s specialised knowledge, you might, even now, be sitting in a room lit by gaslight or candles. The world has benefited from Edison’s focused parameter of knowledge. Edison became a multi-millionaire (back in the days when that really was a huge amount of money) by having specialised knowledge and definite intentions.

Henry Ford and You

During the world war, a Chicago newspaper published certain editorials in which, among other statements, Henry Ford was called “an ignorant pacifist”. Mr. Ford objected to the statements, and brought a suit against the paper for libelling him. When the suit was tried in the Courts, the attorneys for the paper pleaded justification, and placed Mr. Ford himself, on the witness stand, for the purpose of proving to the jury that he was ignorant. The attorneys asked Mr. Ford a great variety of questions, all of them intended to prove, by his own evidence, that while he might possess considerable specialised knowledge pertaining to the manufacture of automobiles, he was, in the main, ignorant.

Mr. Ford was asked questions such as the following:

“Who was Benedict Arnold?” and “How many soldiers did the British send over to America to put down the Rebellion of 1776?”. Soon it became apparent to the court that Mr Ford didn’t know the answer to many of the questions.

Finally, Mr. Ford became tired of this line of questioning and in reply to a particularly offensive question, he leaned over, pointed his finger at the lawyer who had asked the question, and said, “If I should really WANT to answer the foolish question you have just asked, or any of the other questions you have been asking me, let me remind you that I have a row of electric push-buttons on my desk, and by pushing the right button, I can summon to my aid men who can answer ANY question I desire to ask concerning the business to which I am devoting most of my efforts. Now, will you kindly tell me, WHY I should clutter up my mind with general knowledge, for the purpose of being able to answer questions, when I have men around me who can supply any knowledge I require?”

There certainly was good logic to that reply. That answer floored the lawyer. Every person in the courtroom realised it was the answer, not of an ignorant man, but of a man of education. Any man is educated who knows where to get knowledge when he needs it, and how to organise that knowledge into definite plans of action…..

I referenced Ford above only for the example of Specialised Knowledge when he was suing someone for calling him ignorant. After a response (“dig a little deeper”) from a dear friend, I was motivated to look further into the Ford character and his moral position. As a result I must apologise for utilising such a person to make my point. Why?

My research revealed that Ford was a man who History showed to be a Nazi-Sympathiser and someone who published anti-Semitic hatred via a newspaper ‘The Dearborn Independent’ and a book spewing nothing but hatred.  I was shocked to discover this…Moreover research by the Telegraph and by the Washington Post show how Ford used slave labour in Nazi German motor plants. I apologise to anyone and everyone who was offended by my using this man as an example. Morally Ford was clearly corrupt. Ford’s dark ‘works’ were rewarded by an award from Hitler. I retract any reference stated or implied as to Ford’s moral character in my previous message.

One of the main architects of the Holocaust, Heinrich Himmler, described Ford as “one of our most valuable, important, and witty fighters”.

Hitler himself kept a life-sized portrait of Ford in his Munich office and told a Detroit newspaper that he regarded Ford as his “inspiration”. Hitler revered Ford for his anti-Semitism and said, “I shall do my best to put his theories into practice in Germany”.

The REAL Difference between Henry Ford  and you?  It is that Henry Ford was indeed an ignorant man who caused misery to others and used their misery to make himself wealthy. He spread hatred openly and aggressively.  Whatever Ford’s achievements as a businessman, they pale into insignificance  compared to his support of one of world history’s most evil and destructive regimes.

His was not the way of love, of selflessness, of caring for all of humanity.

Henry Ford in no way deserves to be held up as exemplary for his moral character. On the contrary, he deserves utter condemnation from posterity.

                A negative attitude or hatred towards others, can never bring you true success.

Before you can be sure of your ability to transmute DESIRE into its monetary equivalent, you may as well know now that you will require SPECIALISED KNOWLEDGE of the service, merchandise, or profession which you intend to offer in return for fortune. Perhaps you may need much more specialised knowledge than you have the ability or the inclination to acquire, and if this should be true, you may bridge your weakness through the use of a “Master Mind” Group.
